Microtel Disc Golfer of the Week Josh Lenox--PDGA #: 21049
The disc golf community is certainly not short on creativity and innovation. This week's Microtel Disc Golfer of the Week has leveraged both these skills into his disc golf endeavors with some exciting results.
Josh's creativity and innovation in disc golf are evident both on and off the course. On the course, Josh is often seen using the unconventional "tomahawk" throws, as well as "thumbers." And he is credited for advancing new terminology in our sport, refering to throws on the course as, ""flitter-di-diddle" and "flitter-tail."
Innovations that Josh has brought to competitive disc golf events include his "Closest to the Turkey" contest where he gives the player that lands the closest to a faux turkey a prize. And just so that all skill levels are rewarded for participation, Josh has created the "Oh Fudge!" Award in which the players with the worst score in a round get a 1/2 pound of fudge."
His dedication also extends upwards too, as Josh is the volunteer disc golf tournament director for the Alabama Sports Festival, where his hard work at promotion and organization has 100% of its prizes donated to this Am-only event. Josh is currently running to gain a seat on the Southern National Board to advance some of his creative ideas for this renouned event.
With all this on his resume, Josh's dedication to disc golf can be best described by his wife Marla (who nominated him), as she says, "Josh is dedicated to disc golf and is an essential leader in the disc golf community who deserves to be recognized for his outstanding contributions."
We could not agree more Marla. So it is our great pleasure to announce Josh Lenox as the Microtel Disc Golfer of the Week. Congratulations.
