In the smack-dab middle of the United States sits the wind-swept plains of Kansas that might not immediately conjure up images of ideal disc golf conditions.

Yet, in the friendly confines of Lakewood Park, sits an 18-hole disc golf course in the woods fairly well-protected from the gusts and "twisters" made famous in the Wizard of Oz. And within those friendly confines is often found one of the most dedicated ambassadors of disc golf anywhere...and his name is Randall Brown.

Randy is Pro Masters-level player, but even a better Master at making new, younger players feel welcome as they venture out to the Lakewood Course for the first time. We all know that disc golfers are usually welcoming to "newbies," but Randy goes way beyond the call of duty, often picking up new players to get them to the course. He is also notorious for rooting on players, even if they've made a bad shot.

Tyler Smith (PDGA #:28251), a new resident of Salina and nominating PDGA Member for Randy as the DG'er of the Week, describes it this way, "There are many ways to help the sport of disc golf and the work that Randy does at the local level has a profound and cumulative effect that will be felt for many years to come!"
