Quite simply, the mission of this program is to celebrate the spirit of disc golf, which is a spirit of community, friendship, environmental stewardship, personal independence, and recreation. For over 30 years now, disc golf has been played among friends, in beautiful parks, with the goal of getting some exercise and enjoying the company of our fellow players.

The award is NOT designed to celebrate who has the lowest scores, but who's involvement in disc golf best captures the disc golf spirit. We have specifically intitled this program the "Disc Golfer of the Week," not the "Player of the Week." By recognizing the people who do so much UNRECOGNIZED work within the PDGA and disc golf, the Disc Golfer of the Week program will provide a forum for those in our disc community who's dedication has long deserved reward.

We do hope that you will nominate your friend, course pro, or someone who personifies the spirit of disc golf. Clearly, many people are deserving. Let us know who you think should win.
